May 12th

Alright, it's a new week! Starting with last Saturday, the Kentucky Derby was won by a semi-underdog horse named I'll Have Another. I was at the race, and it was really hot, but worth it. In the NHL, Kings and Coyotes advanced, no surprise and the Devils finished out the Flyers. So, the only series still going ends tonight, with Game 7 between the Capitols and Rangers. Interesting fact, both teams went to a Game 7 in their first series also. I personally will be watching, and I'll suggest that you should too, even if you don't like hockey. In baseball, mostly the biggest news this week was Josh Hamilton's 4 homers in one game. Nuts, just nuts. He also hit 2 HR's last night, that's 8 in 5 games! AL East is getting pretty tight, AL Central still isn't that great, but it's close. AL West is the Rangers to lose. NL East is probably the tightest, NL Central isn't very close right now. And last but not least, the Dodgers are killing everyone in the NL West. Finally, to the NBA. Celtics fans should be maybe the happiest fans right now (I know I am). For one, they just won their series, and two, the number one seed lost to the 8th seeded 76ers (I know, D-Rose's injury was probably the reason why). So basically, the Celtics have the easiest path to the Conference Finals. My Predictions in the NBA are: I like the Lakers to close out the Nuggets tonight, and the Grizzlies over the Clippers tomorrow night. Then, in the semis, I like the Celtics over the 76ers (in the series, not tonight), the Heat over the Pacers, The Spurs over the Grizzlies, and the Thunder over the Lakers. May 5th

So the big news this week in MLB was Mariano Rivera is out for the season. He tore his ACL while shagging flies. Ironically, I passed the stadium the night this happened. Anyway, Rivera says that he will be back next year, which was the question on everyone's mind. Also, Bryce Harper came up into the majors, and has done pretty wellThere is a pretty good series going on right now with the Nats and the Phillies. Now to hockey. The Rangers Capitols series is still pretty tight, the Yotes are pulling away from the Predators. The Coyotes have had crazy good goal-tending from Mike Smith. The Flyers Devils series is a toss-up, and the Kings are pretty much owning the blues. In the NBA, there's a lot to talk about. With Rose out, the Bulls have looked pretty bad and lost two straight including a pretty bad choke yesterday. The Celtics have fought and are now in the lead 2-1 in the series. The Spurs are just handling the Jazz, the Pacers have a 2-1 lead on the Magic. The Nuggets fought and beat the Lakers to hang in in that series. Grizzlies Clippers should be very entertaining. Thunder Mavs might be too. What to Watch Tonight MLB: Nationals vs. Phillies NHL: Rangers vs. Capitols NBA: Grizzlies vs. Clippers

NHL Thoughts

A little late on this one, but it'll do. So, since the Blackhawks got out, I've been rooting for the Kings, because I love an underdog. Right now, I like the Rangers topping the Caps, the Coyotes beating the Predators, The Devils beating the Flyers, and the Kings over the Blues. Then I like the Coyotes over the Rangers, and the Kings over the Devils. And to win it all, I think the Coyotes. They've been spectacular throughout the playoffs, and I like upsets now and then.

MLB Thoughts

MLB thoughts so far. I think the weakest division is the AL Central. There are no real strong teams at all. The strongest is probably the AL East. All pretty decent teams, even the Sox. My MVP would be Matt Kemp. He's definitely MVP right now, crazy good. My AL East Champ: Rays (Yanks could be close). For the AL Central Champ: Tigers (Not that hard to win this division right now). My AL West Champ: Rangers (Easy choice to make). For the NL East Champ: Braves (This division could be VERY close). NL Central Champ: Cardinals (Fight for second will be tight). And the NL West Champ: Dodgers (They're just too good right now). World Series: Dodgers over Rangers

NFL Thoughts (Again)

In the NFC, the obvious best team so far is the Packers. If they defeat the Lions on Thanksgiving, a lot of talk will surround them about a perfect season (very possible, they do have to look out for the Lions twice, the Bears, and the Giants though). Can they do it? Yes. Do I think they will do it? I would give them about a 25% of doing it, BUT I think it may not be a great thing for them if they have a perfect regular season, a LOT of pressure and expectations would follow them. The 49ers have been a surprise, they could threaten in the playoffs, same with the Saints and Giants, but not as much. Now over to the AFC, The favorite right now is not really obvious. The Steelers, who have lost twice already to the Ravens, seem to be the favorites. The Ravens have played great except when they play bad teams, if you look up inconsistent in the dictionary, the definition is the Ravens. The Patriots don't seem great at all, and the Texans have Schaub out for the season.

Remember this, the Super Bowl Champion WILL come from the NFC, I am 85% sure.

College Football Thoughts

Well, two out of my three were right (Stanford probably will not win the BCS championship, I was going out on a limb there) LSU right now is the obvious favorite to win, but the debate rages on for who should join them if the top five win out. Oklahoma State's crazy 2 OT loss opened up this debate (I am very sorry I missed the game). Anyway, I personally think that Oregon should be the one to join them if Oregon, Oklahoma, and Alabama win the rest of their games. I know that Alabama played better against LSU then Oregon, but I think that Oregon is a much better team than they were in the beginning of the season, AND I don't want to hear all of the talk about "how amazing the SEC is"
